#PerfectGoals

It may be impossible, but we shouldn't stop striving.

BIODERMA 2-in-1 moisturising anti-UV mist (Eau de soin SPF 30)

2/21/2018

As someone who survives on very little sleep, I’ve grown to rely on makeup to look alive throughout the work day. However, as the day goes by, it is inevitable (and normal) that your face starts to secrete oil and feel icky. Though what happens when I blot my face with either tissue or blotting paper is the tragedy of wiping off the makeup.

I recently tried Bioderma’s release, the Hydrabio Eau De Soin, which is a 2-in-1 hydrating mist which combines sunscreen and hydration in a revolutionary product. It also boasts to be the only mist in the derma-cosmetics category that works to prevent skin ageing on-the-go.
Picture

The Hydrabio Can be used as the last step of morning skincare routine or to re-hydrate, set make-up and protect skin from harmful UV rays (yays!).

It is the first product which integrates sunscreen into water, with a unique mist texture that requires no spreading and is invisible on the skin, even over makeup!

Bioderma also added Cellular Bioprotection, which protects cellular DNA, prevents damage to skin immune system and preserves antioxidant reserve – these help in anti-aging, which is something us ladies really need.
If you look carefully at the nozzle, you’ll notice that it’s a lot smaller than usual products. The Hydrabio comes with a superfine spray pump that produces an almost imperceptible mist (I had to waste a lot of sprays trying to capture it with my camera).

Thankfully the formula is transparent and didn’t stain anything, and the pump bottle is aerosol-free so I didn’t harm the environment as well.

The Hydragio is formulated using highly purified water that is enriched with hydrating molecules, giving you a deep hydrating experience.

Powered by the Aquagenium patent, it helps repair skin barrier, retain moisture and restore skin’s water circulation. This patent combines two ingredients - apple seed extract and Vitamin PP, to stimulate water circulation.

The product also contains glycerine and texture agents specifically chosen to increase hydration power while providing a refreshing sensation.

Spray the product on your face and neck in the following simple steps:
  1. Shake well
  2. Spray 20cm away from face
  3. Spray 4 times per use
  4. Leave to dry, there's no need to spread!
Picture
The Hydrabio Eau de soin SPF 30 PA +++ feels fresh and light on the skin, and delivers an impeccable, non-sticky finish that is ultra-comfortable. And the best part is because there’s no need to spread, my makeup stays on as well.
Picture
What I like about the product is that it’s slim and fits easily into my bag (it’s the same height as my iPhone X).

Also, its a fuss-free mid-day pickup that is easy and quick to use and helps with refreshening.

The Hydrabio is extremely affordable at S$19.90 for 50ml. During March, it's exclusive to Watsons at $16.90 (save further 15%) before it rolls out islandwide on 1 April at $19.90.

Can be purchase at Watsons' eStore:

Rachel B - La La Love You lyrics

2/20/2018

Because I can't find the lyrics anywhere online *shrugs*
Ooh

You kiss me once, kiss me twice
I’ll take one more, baby
There’s not a kiss of yours I don’t adore

Everytime, without you,
I want to tell you but I
Want to make sure all of my words are true

I think I could la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la love you
I think I could la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la love you
Ooh

Can’t seem to say the right things
I hope you know baby
You’ve got me burning like a candle’s glow (burning, burning)

Maybe you could say it first
Tell me you do, but
Please always speak with the truth
I think I could la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la love you
I think I could la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la love you

Ooh baby, won’t you come a little closer (closer, closer)
I wanna let you see all of me (ooh, yeah)
Here we go, make it slow,
Then take me over, over

I think I could love you
ooH
I think I could love you oh
I think I could love you

You do something to me baby
that I cant explain no
I keep trying to tell you
But I cant find the words to say
You take my breath away
I don’t know what you do to me baby

I think I could

Ultraformer – Korean Ultherapy @ Veritas Medical Aesthetics

2/15/2018

There's something about Veritas Medical Aesthetics that makes it really welcoming. Perhaps its the way the medical team treats you like a friend, or the camaraderie amongst them that shows it's more than just a job, or the sincerity that makes you know that you can trust the medical team to do what is in your best interest.
Regardless, I found myself back at the clinic to continue the journey of combating the unfortunate effects that time and a crazy lifestyle has wrought on me.

I went for my appointment in the middle of the day as the clinic opens at 11am. IF I didn't recall wrongly, I was there around 1pm.

Unfortunately, the period of time before Valentines' was insanely hectic, and I was working almost 18 hours a day. You can see the dark eye circles that cannot be covered by makeup :( Also, unlike Oppo, iPhone isn't so kind to automatically edit pictures. I also just realised that I was photobombed by a machine in the background.

As usual the first thing that happened was that I had to have my makeup removed for consultation with the doctor.
I explained that I was in the middle of the workday, and cannot afford to go back to office without my eye makeup on at least, for fear that it would scare my colleagues and clients. I was assured by Michelle that it was perfectly okay because they were experienced in knowing how to remove makeup partially so the doctor can see my skin, but still leave my eye makeup on (yay!). Thankfully my main issue was dark eye circles so at least I will just go back to work looking less put-together than usual.

Back to the topic of my photobomber and its friends, I realised that in the room that I was brought to have my makeup removed was another machine in the corner.
I took a trigger-happy photo.

Me: Is it very busy before CNY? Your treatments dont have much downtime isnt it.
Dr Chua: No leh I have strong downtime too. The whole spectrum. Next month I’m going to have every class of laser in the world haha
Me: Whoa. First in Singapore? if it is for an aesthetic clinic then its a USP isnt it (always in business mode)
Dr Chua: USP yes haha but I don’t think I’m the only one la. So proud to complete my collection though :)

*Mental eye roll*,  Boys will be boys.

Since having more options (So Dr Chua can like, choose his weapons) means I get a more customised prescribed treatment, I'll take his collection of laser machines as a good thing  :D

Mad makeup remover skills - the makeup on my cheeks, forehead, undereye are removed but I still have eyeliner on.

For this session, Dr Chua decided to go with Ultraformer HIFU. Its a non-surgical method that does lifting, tightening, and contouring. It also offers natural-looking results because of its natural stimulation of collagen remodeling. The magic "C" word that all girls love.

I decided to simply trust him and google later.

Ultherapy, also known as High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), is an early stage medical technology that is in various stages of development. Wikipedia explains it in a way that makes it easy to understand:
The mechanism is similar to using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight. Focused ultrasound uses an acoustic lens to concentrate multiple intersecting beams of ultrasound on a target. Each individual beam passes through tissue with little effect but at the focal point where the beams converge, the energy can have useful thermal or mechanical effects.

Picture
He basically explained that with highly focused heat energy, the treatment sets out to foster the production of collagen and promote micro tissue contraction.

He would be using three separate cartridges – one for each skin layer. Overall, the device creates multi-layered lifting and tightening.
So I was brought to another room to have numbing cream applied and Shannon switched off the lights so I could rest for half an hour... though I checked my email instead.

Periodically someone popped in to check on me and asked if I was doing alright, but I managed to sneak a photo without dropping the phone on my face and end up numbing my iPhone screen protector instead.

Its extremely bummer that I don't have actual photos of the machine and the procedure to post, so I'll just have to describe I guess.

If I had to describe the sensation of the treatment, I would say that it felt like a staple gun. The first shot was quite shocking because of the sensation. But afterwards when you know what to expect, it wasn't really painful. And it legit helps with tightening because you can actually feel the area around the shot pulling in.

I previously mentioned in another blog post about how you need to find people who know what they are doing. Your face is in their hands. Especially because the machine is a handheld device that the doctor needs to decide:
  • Where to carry out the treatment
  • What depth of the cartridge to use
  • How many times that particular area needs to be "shot"

I saw on youtube how the a doctor helped this girl "even out" her face with the Ultraformer because she felt that one side of her cheek is bigger than the other.

You could as easily end up with a misshapen face if your doctor doesn't know what he's doing  :(
Picture

Dr Chua was careful during the treatment (I don't know, he seemed like the he doing some kind of mad calculation and analysis), but also very reassuring and funny.

The entire procedure doesn't take much time, and it doesn't seem to have any downtime at all because that was me in the cab on the way back to work and no one noticed anything when I got back.
In the next few days, I felt that the area under my eyes/cheeks were sore (collagen is generating yay), and periodically I could feel some spasm or tightening.

The healing process takes 6 weeks after treatment, and during this period there will be continued improvement as your skin restores collagen and elastin layers.
