It may be impossible, but we shouldn't stop striving.

Chicago - The Musical (Not a review)

2/27/2017

I had an extreme crush on Richard Gere.
That's actually the reason why I started being interested in Chicago, when they had the movie version.
I still have the VCD, but honestly it'll probably be too grainy to watch on tv / the laptop now.

Video on demand maybe?

I booked the ticket on 21 September 2016, wayyyyy ahead. Which was probably why I was able to get the first row centre circles seats (our favourite) on Valentine's day. -> It's a great idea. They don't charge extra for V-day LOL.

First up: Dress code.
Most everyone who goes to the theatres often (or the caucasians) will dress up for the threatre. It's like a form of respect for the artists. So, without it being said, most people dressed up in black and red. It makes watching the musical more fun, you know?
So i wanted to wear this pair of mary janes with silver glitter (like the silver buckles they were gonna wear to court), but was told that it didn't match my classy-ish guess by marciano dress that I had on :( sadness.

Musical etiquette / Actually, just my pet peeves.
1. If your seat is in the middle, arrive earlier. Nothing is more annoying that people who come in late and have to cause the entire row to stand up/ move back just so you can pass, just before the show. Thankfully, we were seated in exactly the middle, so we didn't have to let anyone pass us at all.
2. Do not use your phone when you are told not to use your phone. The Chicago musical troupe and management (according to the Mastercard Theatres staff) were very strict about not taking photos. Not during, not before, not after.
But that didn't stop the lady on my right from trying anyway. Show some respect yeah? If you need photos for your instagram, you can always take them off the internet or something.
3. If there is a need to talk, and I admit, sometimes there really is, whisper :)

Actually I don't have much to review, review about it. Partly because I'm writing the review half a month after I watched it (yes, i was admitted to hospital on 16 February haha), and secondly because there are no photos to jog my memory.
But regardless, being in Singapore, we're fortunate to have shows come to our theatres. So should big names like the West End, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Cats, etc come, just go watch. No crew is perfect-perfect you know, so it's a matter of how much you get wowed away, and how much you understand to even be wow-ed away. So just do your homework and you'll be fine :)
And capitalise on early bird prices.

Ciao!
