#PerfectGoals

It may be impossible, but we shouldn't stop striving.

LA VIDA - Deluxe Creative Brows Embroidery

LA VIDA Deluxe Creative Brows Embroidery Service

Time is precious.
People always look shocked when I tell them that my alarm is set for 5.45am on most days, and I leave home by 6.15am. The worst part is I regularly sleep at 2 or 3am, and my fatalistic dark eye circles means I never leave home without makeup on... except when I go to the gym.
It also means I battle with drawing my brows on a daily basis (no easy feat in a very limited amount of time), and regularly smudge it when I swipe at my face with tissue during the course of the day.

I regularly walk past the LA VIDA outlet at AMK Hub. It's hard to miss, they're directly on the right of the entrance, and business always looks bustling. So I thought I'd save myself the suffering every morning and give eyebrow embroidery a try. On hindsight, best decision ever.

Numbing Cream + Consultation Process

Picture
The numbing cream was applied, and had to be left on for approximately 30 minutes for it to take effect. Care was taken to put cling wrap over it to prevent myself from accidentally touching it.

Selina was very gentle, and she took the effort to help me find hair clips to keep my hair from away from my face.

The video below shows the application of the numbing cream if you've never tried it.
Time was taken to understand what was the look I was going for. I had drawn my brows (badly) prior to the session so they had an idea of how it usually looked. I was given advice on what colors worked well with my hair color, face shape etc, and I wasn't given to trend. Selina therefore recommended the natural and polished look, which turned out awesome!

Shaping the brows

I always had the problem of balancing my brows, and I never knew why. I simply attributed it to my lack of talent and time. I'm sure you understand :) Some days are good makeup days, some days are bad.

Selina explained that it was because my brow bone was slightly uneven. The worst part is I'm expressive, so I end up exclaiming and frowning a lot. I tried that out every single time, and even when I thought the brows drawn were nice enough, Selina's pride in her work basically kept her at fine-tuning the design until she felt it was perfect. Her focus and pursuit of excellence made me feel assured and well taken care of.

The slideshow  shows the eight different times we stopped and assessed the brow design.

Embroidery

Voila! The actual embroidery only took about 30 minutes.

A micro-blade is used to make small incisions along the brow line to mimic existing eyebrow hairs. They carefully “outline” the confirmed brow designs you want, and then carefully fill in your brows with individual strokes to create a natural look. The colours used are industry-leading natural pigments, so you won’t have to worry that your eyebrows will turn green like the old-school eyebrow embroideries.

It feels like a blade scraping your skin. I was actually pretty touched when Selina said that the skin over my brows are quite thin, and that she took that into account when gauging the depth of the incisions. She wasn’t just doing her job but was doing what she could to ensure that I was comfortable throughout the entire experience, and I’ll still end up with pretty brows!

Pain level was around one or two on a scale of ten? If you’re afraid of pain you could also ask to have the numbing cream applied more liberally and left on for a longer period of time.

Selina gently applied a thin layer of the gel ointment on my brows that helped with skin healing, but its barely visible. Also, after the session, my brows were just slightly red and it subsided after around 30 minutes. From there I rushed off to a project group meeting where my mates didn’t even realise I came from an eyebrow embroidery session :D No downtime at all.

Post-Emboidery

I was provided a tube of the gel ointment, as well as a care instructions sheet such as not going swimming, prevent overexposure to sunlight, basically how to keep good care of your brows. It also has some information about eyebrow embroidery that you can read up on.

I was told that the brows will fade after first embroidery session, and during the touch up after a month, your brow color will be touched up and enhanced based on the assessment of the specialist. I asked Selina how long she has been in this industry, and she mentioned that she has 11 years of experience, and it shows!

She also gave me the headsup that there would be some peeling of the skin on my brows around the third and fourth day… so I monitored it and took pictures.

The worst for me was on the fifth day it seems.

But even on the worst day it wasn’t bad. I was going to school and work as per usual and people didn’t even look towards my slightly peeling brows.

The gel also helped moisturize the skin so it wasn’t really visible.

By Day 7, the peeling was completely gone, and the shade was lighter and very natural looking.

Day 14: Under bright white lights it appears slightly lighter, but honestly after day 7 when the peeling is gone, it’s really hassle free. There’s no particular maintainence to carry out, though I still diligently apply the gel morning and night.

I’m “monitoring” so that I can share about my eyebrow embroidery journey. I’m looking forward to the touch up session and will share more about it in another post!

The embroidery can last for 18 – 24 months so it’s goodbye to fretting over drawing eyebrows and hello to longer beauty sleep!
