What to wear to Singapore F1 Grand Prix

9/15/2017

I am an avid supporter of the F1 Grand Prix, and have always attended yearly!

FYI, It's pronounced "Graun Prie", it was so embarrassing to have to tell a colleague she's pronouncing it wrongly before she went up to stage to talk about it, but... it needed to be done.

So, the F1 Grand Prix is like, an "ATAS" sports event, so you don't really want to be typically Singaporean and underdress too badly (though it will be hot as hell).

Some inspirations:-
The women who attend F1 races are from all over the world, and are definitely more fashion conscious than Singaporeans are.

Style Tips:
  1. Do not bring a large bag
Because it will hold up the queue at the bag checks, you can't go through the express no bag queue, and you really don't want to carry your Chanel Shopping Bag in case it rains. Pack light, and you'll enjoy your evening better.

  2. Dress Comfortably
DO NOT SHOW UP IN A BLACK DRESS AND STILETTOS.
You'll definitely be mistaken for an employee.
Dress comfortably, if you need the height, so for wedges :) It'll be hot, humid, packed with lots of people, and the last thing you want to be is be uncomfortable.

  3. Plan your outfits if you're going for all 3 days
Build up your outfit. The first day of F1 are the practice sessions, so go casual.
Wear a fitted T-shirt with some jeans and boots perhaps? A lot of people wear baseball caps for the casual look. You can choose to change up your look for qualifying day with a sundress and sandals, and well, race day's the big day.

  4. Event Colors: Red White Black Yellow
    It's the devil.
    Black + Yellow = Bee
Red + White = National Day
    Red + Yellow = Macdonalds
So do spend some time coordinating your entire outfit. But National Day is definitely better than being a bee or macdonalds. My personal favourite is to go monochrome with red.

  5. Lip Stains / Colored Gloss
Most of the event is in the evening where your makeup needs to last throughout (though admittedly, if you stand near the spotlight the lighting will be harsh). Be practical, and keep your makeup easy to maintain.

  6. Rain or Shine Event
Take into consideration that there might be a downpour, strong winds, no wind and highly humid etc, be prepared!

Just because you NEED to dress comfortable doesn't mean you have to compromise on looking good and being stylish. Be classic, elegant, and have fun at the event!
