Hana K Food [Review] Bibimbap Feature

9/14/2019

This is the second time we've been to Hana K Food at Novena Velocity, both times because there's race pack collection, and we went to True Fitness and worked out before this meal to feel less guilty.

Got loads of people asking about it after I posted the instastory (and tagged the location), so I figured it wouldn't hurt putting this review out here.

Tadah! #NotSponsored

But the last time we came we ordered a beef stew and the same spicy tofu soup (I love my sundubu jjigaes).

The last time we had the spicy tofu soup with seafood (standard choice), but thought I'd try the pork today, and it did well!

Got the husband to try to Bibimbap... Actually I just went ahead and ordered it. xD
You have the option of adding pork, beef or chicken to the Bibimbap, and he said he used to not eat Bibimbap because he thought it was vegetarian food.
Hmm, it IS if you just order the usual one I suppose?

Prices aren't unreasonable considering it's a restaurant, so it's pretty decent.

The Bibimbap came with a miso soup (that's cold?)... but surprisingly sweet. I suppose it contrasts and helps diversify the flavours.

For Hana K Food the Bibimbap sauce came separately in a squeeze bottle so you can decide how much you want to mix in. It's not a bad thing I suppose, and I erred on the side of healthy and decided to put just enough.

Though my arms were tired from gym, had to work my right arm even more mixing the Bibimbap for quite some time until it manages to look like this. Happy though. Metal bowl, metal spoon, totally Korean Drama style like when they scavenge for supper and always end up eating this.

Anyways ignore the miso soup mentioned earlier (right of this picture on the right) .
The spicy tofu soup came with four side dishes and a packet of seaweed to go with your rice. I super love the seaweed with the rice. Like, definitely buying it if I ever see if it at NTUC. The side dishes aren't "fixed", but you get them them refilled... so we got slightly different stuff the second time. But the seaweed/carrot/cucumber in the unknown red sauce is really nice.

All in all, I felt that Hana K Food isn't really "commercialised" even though it's a restaurant. Kind of like how Ootoya is like home cooked Japanese food, this really feels like Homey Korean Food that's not too pretentious. They of course have the wide range of ramyeon, army stew, other soups etc, but they don't have barbecued meats or fried chicken etc. Very healthy.

Also, the entire restaurant was full of Korean patrons other than us. Staff were also Korean. That gets them the authentic Korean food stamp of approval isn't it?

The one I went to was at:
#02-25 Velocity @ Novena Square, 238 Thomson Rd, Singapore 307683
It's at a corner near the Adidas outlet store.

And there's another at
i12 Katong, so knock yourself out at this healthy Korean home-cooked food place!
