In the context of human society, a family (from Latin: familia) is a group of people affiliated either by consanguinity (by recognized birth), affinity (by marriage or other relationship), or co-residence (as implied by the etymology of the English word "family") or some combination of these.

High Court Judgment
Round 2018 is starting again.
There's a reason the word family is one that means the world to me, but at the same time mean nothing to me at all. I've known and seen more kindness from our neighbours in Luxus than supposed family who bully my father.
Essentially I think parents set the tone for a family. Or rather, parents determine what kind of people their offspring become. As teachers like to secretly say, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". There was this case a few years back when a student was reportedly rude to many subject teachers. But when the form teacher called the parents to "discuss" about the issue, the teacher found that the father himself talks in the same manner.
Lousy people should be told never to become parents. My grandparents' bias towards their oldest and youngest sons (not my dad), is what led to their sense of entitlement and selfishness, and the constant bullying of my parents. If being an asshole were illegal, they'd be serving time for the rest of their lives.
If I can quote a quote from the movie, it goes to show that I've watched it a couple of times. Which also means I've seen this scene enough times to develop an impression about Botox:
The famous frozen expression. Probably made more famous by movies that make fun of it, and celebrities who have gone through one too many plastic surgeries. But that was almost 15 years ago, during which I'm sure doctors have found better alternatives and up-ed their game.
A certain social media personality just posted in her instastory a few days ago about how she found the "magic of botox and fillers" that gives her the V-face that everyone wants these days, and that there's no going back for her.
What is Botox and how does it work?
To summarise, basically Botox is a brand name that became a collective term. It stands for Botulinum toxin, and there are other brands such as Dysport and Xeomin (same thing really). It works to temporarily paralyse muscles by blocking the signals from your nerves. This inhibits muscle movement, thereby preventing wrinkles from developing or worsening. The toxin works locally at the point injected (though it may migrate up to 3cm according to one article), so a doctor who is experienced will be able to best identify which part is best for the injection.
It takes a few days for the effects to show after the injection, in which the wrinkles will soften and you'll be happy. But because our body battles the foreign matter, it will begin to repair itself, and the effect lasts between two to six months. After that, the muscles begin to work again, and you'll need to go back to your doctor for a touch up.
So I visited Veritas Medical Aesthetics, which is located at the beautifully renovated Capitol Piazza.
My first impression of the clinic was awesome, in part because I got lost in B2 and was walking around in circles, and Michelle was directing me through the phone. She gave me a very warm smile when I finally reached, and that sort of welcome makes the entire day better.
I then filled up the form which is a standard procedure at all aesthetic clinics, and took the time to reflect about my insecurities and shortcomings. When I was done with the form, Michelle helped cleanse my skin to prepare for consultation.
You can find more information about Dr Chua Cheng Yu here, though it doesn't state that he has Jay Chou eyes and brows.. but you can look at his picture. After a brief talk where he enquired about my concerns and whether I've had procedures done on my face, he used his DSLR to demonstrate what lighting does to my dark under-eye circles. It was very factual, and targeted based on his professional analysis of my skin condition. He was disarmingly frank, which is not a bad thing though you need to be strong. An honest critical analysis rather than a criticise-you-and-kill-your-self-esteem-to-make-you-pay-more kind of analysis.
What I loved about the conversation was the fact that Dr CY Chua wasn't trying to "sell" a certain procedure or product the way some places do, or tell you to get a package with ten sessions in which they will customise the treatment for you - without telling you what those treatments are. I'm sure we've all been subjected to those sales pitches.
Dr Chua Cheng Yu and Veritas Medical Aesthetic review
I was taken very good care of! The plastic pieces were stuck on to avoid the fumes coming off the numbing cream from hurting my eyes, and I didn't take pictures during the procedure because I didn't want my arm to obstruct Dr Chua's way and risk the needle stabbing my eye. Regardless, Michelle was there to distract me by tapping on the other side of my face from the side Dr Chua was injecting, and the sensation really did help with ignoring the pain. You can read a lot more about it here: Botox/ Dysport/ Xeomin.
Decided to log in and blog because of the thoughts that kept chasing themselves around my head like kittens.
Since young we've been told that... girls should be THIS and girls should be THAT.
And why do we care anyway? Most guys don't. But I came to this conclusion that we care because we want acceptance, approval, and affection. All the bad A-things.
Coupled with the fact that I'm the elder child, and when my baby brother was born attention (see, A-words again) shifted away, which made me strive more for said approval. Maybe I'm just messed up ^^v, but whatever.
Regardless, how do you be a strong woman but also a gentle wife.
Be smart and independant, but also compliant and accommodating.
It's like we gotta have the good traits of both genders. Like whaaaaaat.
Resolution for 2018, FOCUS and continue building the company.
TAKE CARE OF MY BODY because health is the most important, without which nothing can be accomplished. That includes trying to keep the negative effects of age at bay because this 1988 Dragon baby will turn 30 this year. Sigh.
CHERISH LOVED ONES because the people that we treasure the most are also the people that we most take for granted.
Going back to work. Ciao.
