Happy Independent's Day America! For the rest of the world, doesn't seem like too many people care other than to raid the discounts on worldwide shipping online shops. So so after a hard day at work, Gabriel and I headed to our comfort food fall-back, Isteaks @ MyVillage Serangoon, only to find that they're renovating because their kitchen needs TLC according to them. Time flies since they moved from the Coffeeshop along the road into the mall (?). This is the second time we've visited Hajime, so it's honestly not too bad. Though it IS the first time it's somewhat full, probably scooped the people who weren't able to have Isteaks. Torikawa's a new item they're pushing, and there's a discount if you get it as a set with their craft beer / sapporo. I THINK it's $10.50 if you get it as a set, about $3 off? I like the fact that their small beer glasses come chilled. Very jap in the details. Torikawa's fried chicken skin, in this case it's marinated like the Korean chicken style, strong salty/sweet taste. Goes well with the beer when newly fried and hot, but once it cools down I find the taste a bit too strong if not eaten with the beer. But my tastes run to simpler foods. Premium Loin Tonkatsu set with Sesame that you need to grind before adding the sauce. As usual, overexcited and didn't take photo before it's too late. I think the premium part has more fats so it's softer, but in this case I think the fats were a little too much because I ended up pulling up chunks of fats :( Ebi Tonkatsu. We mixed and shared the sets, but the ebi was just mediocre. Nothing to complain about, not awesome. Total damage was $52, not unreasonable. They seem like a family though, and the service was impeccable :) Hajime myVillage @ Serangoon Gardens 1 Maju Avenue, #02-07/8/9 Singapore 556679 https://www.hajime.com.sg/ Comments are closed.
